LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A grand jury has indicted Edward Fabian Lopez in the early October shooting death of his cousin Isaiah Riojas in front of a family member’s home.

According to the police report, Lopez was in the vehicle with his wife and three children when he shot at Riojas. Lopez then threw the gun out of the vehicle.
When police arrived, Riojas was lying on the ground with stab wounds to the upper and lower chest. He was shot six times.
Riojas was taken to the hospital, where doctors had to remove his spleen and found a bullet in his spine, causing him to lose feeling from the waist down.
Lopez was arrested and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center, but was later released.
On Tuesday, Nov. 1, a grand jury indicted Lopez on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm. Lopez is not listed as a current inmate at the Lubbock County Detention Center.
A trial date has not been set.
