With the Chromebook 514 CB514-1WT, Acer has a 14-inch laptop based on Chrome OS in its line. The company chooses a gray case made of plastic (base unit) and metal (back cover). A maximum opening angle of 180 degrees allows the display to be folded back all the way down to the surface. The laptop has three video outputs, and can be enhanced with extensive solutions to pass through the two Thunderbolt 4 ports.
A dual-core processor Core i3-1115G4 (Tiger Lake), 8 GB RAM (LPDDR4X, soldered, no memory slot), and SSD 256 GB (PCIe 3, M.2 2280) equip the device for office use and Internet . The development of both noise and heat is very limited in the actively cooled laptop.
The system runs well and smoothly. Chrome OS loads quickly, and applications open promptly. Thanks to the integration of the Google Play Store, a large number of Android apps are available for use on the Chromebook. Wi-Fi 6 module (Intel AX201, 802.11ax) allows access to networks.
The Chromebook does not lack durability: The 50 Wh battery is enough for a Wi-Fi battery runtime of almost 9 hours. Good: The included USB-C power adapter (45 watts) can be plugged into the two Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB-C; Power Delivery, DisplayPort).
The matte touchscreen display (!) (Full HD, IPS, 14-inch) offers stable viewing angles and good contrast. Its brightness is too low, however. The touch screen can only be operated with the fingers, since there is no stylus support.
