Khandu chaired a day-long meeting with a high-level delegation from Assam led by its Minister for Border Protection and Development Atul Bora, several ministers and MPs including top officials of the Border Protection and Development Department and concerned deputies.
Khandu said that the meeting can be called the last of the consecutive meetings between the two governments after the historic Namsai Declaration. solution. “We are both committed to resolving all our differences by the end of November,” he said.
Khandu informed that after the Namsai Declaration, 12 committees were formed headed by a minister of state – both in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. These committees visited the disputed areas together, gave reports to the people on both sides, and submitted their reports to the governments of their respective states.
“Today we discussed in depth those reports in the district. I am happy that all the reports are effective and the committees of the two states have worked honestly and together to find a lasting solution to the border issue,” he said.
He pointed out that ‘if there is a strong political will’ no issue can remain unresolved for decades. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their encouragement and for being the guiding force in ensuring good relations between the two neighboring states to settle the border dispute out of court.
