The Chief Minister of Assam – Himanta Biswa Sarma has convened a 14-hour marathon meeting with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) of all districts to discuss security issues.
The meeting was primarily focused on how to establish administrative transparency and ensure the citizens’ own governance. It discussed strengthening law and order, strengthening security and ensuring smooth and timely delivery of system benefits.
She specifically focused on reviewing security preparations for the 400th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahavir Lachit Barphukan.
Also, the Chief of Police and the Chief of Police discussed strategies to stop PFI operators in the State, fight crime, deal with the rise of crime, and ensure cooperation between the public and the Police.
The meeting also analyzed the achievements of the districts in the fight against drugs, crime reduction, better use of technology, police modernization measures, etc.
Director General of Police (DGP) – Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has announced that the police will soon initiate measures to stop officers found in the state drunk or disobedient while performing their duties. He also informed that more than 1 million cases will be solved within 3 years.
“More than a thousand houses will be built and 20 new police stations will be installed in the region,” – informed the DGP.
Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM wrote “I had a marathon meeting of 14 hours (from 10:30 am to 1:15 am) with DCs & SPs of AACS where we discussed various approaches. “Welcome to the public administration with the strengthening of the welfare initiatives and the necessary measures to reform the law and the governance system.”
