Speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day Rising Sun Water Fest 2022 at Umiam today, Sarma said Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma the two states can create a favorable environment where water sports like boating and sailing can flourish and tourism will gain. a big rise.
The three-day water sports and culture event was the first of its kind in the North East, and its aim was to encourage sports lovers in the region to take up water sports such as rowing and sailing.
Held at the Indian Army headquarters in Kolkata, the event was held under the banner of the Khelo India campaign to promote water sports in the state.
22 clubs from the regions of the country participated in the event. The boating trophy was won by the team of Director General of Cassam Guns (DGAR), who got one gold and one silver. The sailors’ trophy was won by the Hyderabad Yatching Club, which bagged three gold, two silver and one bronze medal.
Brigadier General RP Kalita, Chief of Staff Eastern Air Marshal SP Dharkar, AOC-in-C, Air Force Command Eastern, and many other dignitaries attended the event.
