Guwahati, October 30 (IANS): Assam Police seized narcotics worth Rs 15 crores from Karbi Anglong district and arrested two drug peddlers on Saturday evening, officials said.
The police received information about a shipment of drugs from Manipur to Karbi Anglong district, therefore, a check post was set up in Dilain Tinali area under Bokajan Sub-district.
Bokajan Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) John Das informed that a vehicle with Uttar Pradesh registration number came from Manipur and was seized at the police check post. When the car was searched, about 4 kg of Morphine hidden in the hidden compartments of the car was found.
The police also arrested two drug peddlers, Hemkholal Lunkin (37) and Jangminlal Haokip (38), both residents of Manipur.
According to the police, the market value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 15 crore.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act. The police are interrogating the arrested people to find out more about the case.
