San Luis, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) – Last week, a man died after being shot by Border Patrol agents.
The US Customs and Border Protection office reported that on that Sunday, October 30, a Border Patrol remote camera operator spotted six undocumented immigrants attempting to cross the border from Mexico into the US 1.8 miles from the San Luis Port of Entry.
The camera operator reportedly saw a migrant holding a handgun. The operator notified Border Patrol agents working in the area. Around 7:00 p.m., the agents found a group of six within 300 meters of the border. Three agents fired their guns at a group, killing a man later identified as a Mexican national.
After the shooting, Border Patrol agents found a handgun in his vicinity. Four members of the group were arrested and one fled across the border into Mexico. The FBI, San Luis Police Department, Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General, and CBP’s OPR responded to the scene and the investigation continues.
