DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) — Authorities have released the name of a Summerville man who died in a shooting early Saturday morning.
Zachary Campbell, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting in the King’s Grant neighborhood, Dorchester County Coroner Paul Brouthers said. He said the shooting occurred after an apparent dispute.
Lt. Rick Carson said deputies responded to Kensington Place at Stratford Drive at 8:17 a.m. for reports of a disturbance and shots fired. They found Campbell lying on the side of the road.
Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:20 a.m. by the brothers
Michael Anthony Pressley II, 29, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting, Carson said.
“Callers reported an incident at Kensington Place,” Carson said. “The drivers of the two vehicles exchanged words. Subsequently, shots were fired and one person was injured.
Campbell’s body will undergo an autopsy Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina, Brouthers said.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or what led up to it is asked to call the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office at 843-832-0300.
