Silchar: Eight Bangladeshi nationals, who were lodged in different jails in Assam, were deported to Bangladesh through the Sutarkandi border in Assam’s Karimganj district on Saturday, officials said.
A senior official of Karimganj district said that they were handed over to representatives of the Bangladeshi military, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, who were arrested in the last few years for allegedly entering India illegally, have been deported after completing legal procedures.
The deported Bangladeshi nationals are – Lal Mia alias Mohammad Lal Mia Kazi, Lal Mia alias Lalan Mia, Mohir Uddin, Mohammad Abdul Motin, Farid Alom alias Akash, Atabur Rahman, Faima Begum alias Faima and Md. Rahim Mia aka Firdaus.
Five of the deported officers were arrested in Karimganj district, two were arrested in Guwahati, while one was previously arrested in Cachar district.
Most of these people live in Sylhet district of Bangladesh, and they were in different prisons in Assam city and they entered India illegally.
