Karimganj (Assam): In a massive operation, Heroin worth more than Rs 45 was seized from a truck by a team of BSF and Mudug Regional Police Karimganj district on Tuesday, said a police official.
The heroin was seized from a truck near New Karimganj Railway Station in the early hours of Tuesday while it was on its way to Tripura from Mizoram via Karimganj, he said.
Based on a tip-off, BSF personnel and Karimganj Police intercepted the vehicle and seized heroin packed in 764 sachets of soap, hidden in a secret compartment in the driver’s compartment, the officer said.
The heroin weighed 9.47 kg and was valued at Rs 47.4 crore, he added.
The officer said that the driver of the car was arrested, and they are asking questions to provide more details.
