A man charged with attempted murder in last weekend’s shooting on Fourth Avenue Northwest made his first court appearance Monday morning in Moose Jaw Provincial Court.
Crown prosecutors opposed the release of Girard Saddleback, 32, of Calgary, who will remain in remand until his next court date on Monday, Nov. 7.
Saddleback faces attempted murder, drug trafficking, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of the proceeds of crime and several other firearms and weapons-related charges.
On Friday, October 21, 2022, the Moose Jaw Police Service was investigating firearms at a home in the 800 block of 4th Avenue Northwest. A man believed to be Saddleback exited the residence and fired a handgun at police and fled the scene.
More gunshots were reported around 9:50 p.m. Friday around the 300 block of Rose Street West. Due to this, Saddleback was arrested. He was also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for illegally exiting Calgary.
