SURREY, BC – BC’s Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in Surrey.
On the morning of April 1, 2022, police received several reports of separate incidents involving a man who was reported to be in possession of a weapon, according to information reported by the RCMP. It is not known at this time if the same person was involved in all the reported incidents.
Officers located a man near the intersection of 142A Street and 87A Avenue who they believe is the person involved in at least one of the previous reports to police. It is reported that there was an altercation and he was shot.
Emergency health services attended and the man was taken to hospital for treatment. Despite life-saving measures, he was later pronounced dead.
