Hours after a fire left a home uninhabitable in Minneapolis early Saturday, a man was found shot to death inside the same building.
Police said it was not immediately clear if there was any connection between the murder and the fire, and both were still under investigation.
Firefighters responded to the home in the 2700 block of 15th Avenue South around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The fire on the first floor of the house was extinguished but the fire spread to the second floor. Firefighters then started fighting the blaze from outside and finally extinguished the fire. No one was found inside the house when the fire broke out.
Hours earlier, around 11:25 p.m. Friday, police responding to a report of a shooting found a man inside the home with a fatal gunshot wound. According to police, investigators believe the victim got into an argument with someone he knew and the argument escalated into a shooting.
This is the 72nd homicide investigated by Minneapolis police this year. Authorities have not announced that anyone has been arrested in the case.
