A 25-year-old man was killed and 10 others injured after two unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire at 10 places in Bihar’s Begusarai district on Tuesday evening, police said, adding that the accused are yet to be nabbed.
Police said the first firing was reported after 6 pm in an area under Tegra police station limits. The attackers were on their way to Begusarai from Samastipur district on National Highway-28, a senior police officer said.
“In the next 40 minutes, nine other firings were reported from Bachwara, Phulwaria, Barauni and Chakia police station limits,” added the official, requesting anonymity.

All the 10 shootings took place within a distance of 30 km and investigations are on to identify the culprits. Officials said they are examining the CCTV footage from the places where the shooting took place. “In the footage, the two-wheeler rider is wearing a helmet and the pillion rider has his face covered with a cloth.”
The attackers seem to have entered Patna district, Begusarai Deputy Inspector General of Police Satyaveer Singh said. “We have intensified raids to trace the accused. Their identity is yet to be ascertained,” said Singh. High alert has been issued in Begusarai and Patna districts.
Meanwhile, Chandan (25), a resident of Pipra village in Begusarai, died. He succumbed to his gunshot injuries at a local hospital while 10 other injured persons have been admitted to various hospitals, police said. Four are crucial.

Soon after the incident, the BJP lashed out at the grand coalition government in Bihar. BJP MP from Begusarai and Union Minister Giriraj Singh said there is no government in Bihar and criminals do not fear the law.
RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan said that this incident took place to tarnish the image of Bihar.
