One person is dead and another is in hospital after a shooting outside Woburn Collegiate Institute in Scarborough on Monday afternoon, police confirmed.
Police said the shooting happened in front of the school around 3:30 p.m.
A male victim was found with gunshot wounds and transported to a trauma center in life-threatening condition. He was later taken to hospital but died.
The second victim, a teenager, was taken to a local hospital and then transported via emergency run to a trauma center, police say. His condition is unknown.
Toronto Police Service (TPS) Duty Inspector Lori Krannenberg told media at the scene that both victims are believed to be teenagers, but could not confirm if either victim was a student at Woburn Collegiate.
“There seems to be a lot of gunfire, but I don’t have an exact count. “At this time we are reviewing the video and canvassing the area,” Kranenberg said.

Woburn Collegiate was initially placed under lockdown and police swept the premises.
However, around 4:30 p.m., the police began escorting the students out of the building.
Woburn Junior Public School also went under a lockdown that has since been lifted.
Parents were told they could attend at Dorrington Drive and Ellesmere Road, southeast of the school.
No one has been arrested yet.
Kranenberg said police do not have an up-to-date suspect description, although the suspect was previously described as a black male wearing a black jacket and a COVID mask.
TPS is asking anyone with information or cellphone/dash-cam footage to contact police.
