SAN JOSE – One person was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in a San Jose neighborhood, police said.
In a statement late Sunday, police said around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the 500 block of Madera Avenue for a report of a shooting.
Arriving officers found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Although efforts were made to save the life of the officers, he died on the spot. Police said they have not identified the suspect.
The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.
The killing marks the 32nd homicide investigation by San Jose police in 2022. Another shooting in San Jose left one dead and another hospitalized.
