Police are searching for a man who fired multiple shots at a car with passengers during road rage in Queens early Thursday morning.
A rash of road-rage led to a shooting in a Queens neighborhood Thursday morning.
“It’s too much. The city is going crazy, everyone is in a rush to get somewhere. Slow down and respect everyone driving,” said one.
Crime scene tape lined sections of Cypress Hills Street near the entrance to Jackie Robinson Parkway as two men fired multiple shots into a white sedan inside, a bullet grazing one of them.
“Seriously put down the guns,” said one.
Police said one driver hit the other, an argument ensued and shots were fired.
At least five bullet holes were visible in the car.
“That’s crazy,” said one.
The NYPD says it doesn’t specifically track every incident of road rage, but Officer Bisram said they’ve been seeing and responding to more lately.
“I’ve seen a lot of road range incidents,” said one.
According to AAA, from 2017 to 2021, there were 5,831 crashes in New York City due to aggressive driving and road rage.
“I feel scared,” Luis Herrera said.
Research by mental health doctors shows that some people are more likely to get angry behind the wheel because of daily stress, anxiety, and high levels of anger. They recommend continuing to drive if someone becomes hostile.
“Avoid it at all costs. Go about your day somehow,” said Steven Diaz.
“Bring more humanity back into the world. We need to start loving again. It’s rough right now,” one said.
Police say the gunman who returned to the Glendale intersection where he opened fire is still at large.
Fortunately, the victim is expected to survive.
