OLIVER SPRINGS, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened near Walden Ridge Road Sunday night around 10 p.m.

ACSO released some information about the incident Sunday night, when deputies got behind a driver en route to a crash on Dutch Valley Road and began aggressively moving across all lanes of traffic. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, Ernest Brown, refused to stop, ACSO spokesman Tyler Mays said.

The chase ended when deputies used a spike strip to stop Brown and he crashed his car, according to Mays.

“Brown got out of his car and started shooting at our deputies, causing our deputies to return fire,” Mays said. “Brown was shot in the wrist.”

The TBI released preliminary findings in the shooting Monday morning. According to the findings, Brown “displayed a firearm,” causing the deputy to shoot.

Brown was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
