President Droupadi Murmu will arrive in Guwahati on Thursday on her first visit to Assam, where she will implement many projects such as 100 model schools in tea gardens and a medical college.
President Murmu will go to the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Agartala on Thursday to begin a two-day visit, according to an official release.
On the first day, the President will formally inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of various projects at the central and state headquarters of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
These include the supercomputer centre, ‘Param Kamrupa’, and the laboratory for the design and development of high-power microwave components at IIT Guwahati.
President Murmu will also inaugurate the Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, as well as lay the foundation stones of the local institutions of the National Institute of Psychiatry in Dibrugarh as well as Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
In the evening, she will attend a civic reception and a cultural program which will be held in her honor at the Assam College of Labor Administration.
On Friday, the President will participate in various programs to launch several projects through only modern methods.
It will launch model anganwadi centers with modern facilities and Mission Saubhagya, besides opening a petroleum storage depot for railways fed by Indian Oil Company Moinarbond at Silchar.
President Murmu will also lay the foundation stone for 100 model secondary schools that will be implemented in the Cassam tea plantation areas. Two highway projects and a modern cargo-cum-coach terminal at Aghtori, Guwahati, will also be launched by her.
The President will also flag off a train from Guwahati to Lumding, to Shokhuvi in Nagaland and Mandipathar in Meghalaya, the news added.
