Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan is currently making headlines after a Tamil producer named Manickam Narayanan filed a complaint with the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) accusing the makers of the film of cheating. He claimed that Jawan is a copy of Vijayakanth’s 2006 film Perarasu. According to Times Of India, the report says that TFPC board members will look into the complaint after November 7 , 2022, stating that Manickam Narayanan owns the rights to the story.
Jawan was accused of cheating
In Perarasu, Vijayakanth essays a double role as Perarasu and Ilavarasu, who are twin brothers. It is said that SRK will also be seen in a double role in the film Atlee. However, it is yet to be confirmed by the makers of Jawan. The film also stars Tamil actors Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Yogi Babu and Priyamani. Jawan is Atlee’s first directorial debut in Bollywood. The film is all set to release in theaters on June 2, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Shah Rukh Khan talks about Jawan
In June, this year, Shah Rukh unveiled the first posters of Jawan which is said to be a special project. The announcement was also accompanied by a one and a half minute video. Talking about Jawan, Shah Rukh said in a statement, “Javan is a universal story that transcends languages, geography and appeals to all. Kudos to Atlee for making it this movie is unique and amazing for me as I love action movies! The teaser is just the tip of the iceberg and shows what’s to come”.
Shah Rukh Khan has done it before
Apart from Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan has two more thrillers in the pipeline. She will next be seen in Siddharth Anand’s script Pathaan where she will also share the screen with Deepika Padukone. The film will also feature John Abraham in the lead role and will be released on January 25 next year. Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki also stars Taapsee Pannu.
