On October 26, 2022 at 7:51 a.m., Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to District 1 (St. Catharines / Thorold) responded to a barbershop located on James Street in downtown St. Catharines after receiving information. A City of St. Catharines employee reported damage to the front window.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the window had been shot out multiple times. Detectives assigned to 1 District Criminal Investigative Branch took charge of the investigation. They are supported by members of the Forensic Services Unit. The business was unoccupied at the time. No injuries were reported.
The investigation revealed that the shooting took place around 4:30 in the morning. Detectives have identified a suspicious vehicle and are appealing to the public for assistance.
A description of the suspect vehicle is as follows:
– Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)
– New model (probably a Lexus)
– Red color
– 4 doors
After reviewing CCTV footage so far in the investigation, detectives believe the suspect vehicle was last seen at Westchester Avenue and St. Paul Street in downtown St. Catharines.
Detectives are asking local residents and business owners to review their CCTV footage and contact the lead detective with any relevant information at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009628.
