Brooklyn detectives have arrested the suspects behind two separate fatal shootings earlier this year, the NYPD announced Sunday.
Gabriel Hoyle, 30, of Reid Avenue was charged Oct. 29 with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 53-year-old man in Bedford-Stuyvesant five months ago.
Alfred Bent, 53, of Chauncey Street, was shot to death in front of a brownstone in the 300 block of Decatur Street on May 28 at 11:25 p.m., law enforcement sources said.
Police said Bent and Hoyle were involved in an argument moments before the fatal shooting. The reason for the dispute was not disclosed.
Officers from Precinct 81 Bent was found unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.
EMS immediately transported him to Kings County Hospital, where he died a short time later.
Detectives linked Hoyle to the murder through a tip they received, law enforcement officials said. He was then arrested on Oct. 28 in connection with an unrelated domestic incident.
After questioning, Bent was formally charged with murder and weapons possession charges for the killing. He was charged with no bail at an Oct. 30 arraignment in Kings County Criminal Court, according to court records.
In a separate investigation, police on Sunday cuffed Daniel Hurdle, 30, of Hancock Street, accused of shooting and killing a 29-year-old man in Bedford-Stuyvesant on May 31.
Latheek Poindexter of Lexington Avenue took a fatal bullet to the head at 1:40 a.m. that morning at his residence on the corner of Lexington Avenue in Marcy, authorities said.
Law enforcement sources said Poindexter was having a conversation with an unidentified male at the location when the shooter arrived at the scene and began firing. Following the fatal shooting, the shooter took off on foot in an unknown direction.
Officers from 79th precinct responded to the shooting. Poindexter later died from his injuries at Kings County Hospital.
Further investigation linked Hurdle to the murder; Police sources said the shooting was believed to be gang-related.
Detectives arrested Hurdle on Oct. 28 in the neighborhood of the 81st Precinct after a five-month investigation.
He was arraigned Oct. 29 in Kings County Criminal Court and ordered held without bail, court records indicate.
