Guwahati: Following the death of child artist Tejaswita Baruah due to alleged medical negligence, the health department has suspended the Superintendent of Majuli Civil Hospital in Garmur.
The inspector general, Dr Amulya Goswami after a preliminary investigation was suspended by the health department.
It may be mentioned that 14-year-old Tejaswita Baruah of Majuli suddenly fell ill while singing a song on Wednesday.
She was rushed to the civil hospital but died in the hospital due to “lack of oxygen cylinder”.
After her death, residents alleged medical negligence in her treatment.
Some reports also said that she went to an eye doctor which resulted in negligence.
Residents also said that the district hospital does not have enough doctors, and this has led to many emergency situations that are difficult to deal with.
Many people even said that due to transportation constraints, local residents cannot even travel to other districts during health emergencies.
