A teenager was killed and a Fayetteville man was arrested in a fatal shooting Friday night in East Fayetteville, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday.
According to a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office news release, Sincere Devon Freshley, 21, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Darien Leshawn Crenshaw, 19, of Fayetteville. Crenshaw was shot in the 2300 block of Cattail Circle, a mobile home park on Sapona Road, and died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center around 5 p.m.
“Those involved in the shooting remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation,” the statement said.
Freshly is being held in the Cumberland County Jail on $500,000 bail, according to the release.
Crenshaw’s killing marks the second homicide in Cumberland County in less than a week. Don Antonio Flournoy, 58, was fatally shot Oct. 28 in the 2400 block of Elcar Drive, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. No arrests had been made in Flournoy’s death as of Saturday, and investigators said they were looking for Zachary Maurice Richardson, 34, of Fayetteville for questioning in the shooting.
