San Antonio – Two suspects are on the loose after three teenagers were injured in a shooting on the city’s northeast side, according to San Antonio police.
SAPD responded to a shooting in progress call at 4:15 p.m. Sunday in the 5600 block of Walsem Road.
Upon arrival, officers found the gunshot victims, ages 16 to 17, inside a white KIA with injuries.
A man was taken to hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the chest.
A second victim was grazed in the arm and taken to an area hospital.
Police said the victims were trying to get away from the suspect’s vehicle after the crash when they were hit by the car.
The victim’s car crashed into a silver Lincoln and hit a blue Toyota. SAPD said the silver Lincoln and Toyota had nothing to do with the shooting and were just trying to get out of the way.
Mario Quintana, the driver of the silver Lincoln, said he was driving to a nearby HEB to buy groceries for the week when the incident happened. “Thank God the airbags deployed saved me,” Quintana said.
Another driver, Justin Pickard, also heard gunshots coming from the suspect’s vehicle as he cashed in the stolen vehicle. After witnessing the accident, that driver took action to make sure Quintana was okay. “I want to know what condition he’s in before I call EMS,” Pickard said.
Additionally, police were told there was a third gunshot victim, who was reportedly bleeding from his leg. However, the police could not find him.
Police said the victim’s car was a stolen vehicle.
SAPD is searching for two suspects inside a silver vehicle.
