Chicago (WLS) — Tuesday night, the family of 26-year-old Dashavanna Threatt was devastated and searching for answers.
“Knowing that she’s not going to be here anymore… I know they say God only gives you what you can handle, but it’s a little bit harder at 26,” said Trena McGregor, her cousin.
Police said he was shot in the head while riding south on South DuSable Lake Shore Drive near 45th Street around 1:15 p.m. Relatives said the threat was in the passenger side of her Jeep SUV.
Police said a 31-year-old man was behind the wheel. Suffering from gunshot wounds to his body and legs, he exited the drive and stopped his bullet-riddled vehicle in the Hyde Park neighborhood. Both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition before Threatt was pronounced dead.

Officials said it all started with some sort of situation between two motorists.
“The city of Chicago, I pray that the police find the person who did this so we can get justice,” McGregor said.
Investigators were still working in the rain on Tuesday night collecting evidence from the vehicle.
Relatives said Threatt lived in Bellwood, the mother of two school-aged children and ran a successful West Side business. She rented out the salon space to hair stylists and makeup artists.
“She was a 26-year-old girl with two daughters, trying to do right,” McGregor said.
No one is in custody and area detectives are investigating.
Duesable Lake Shore Drive was closed southbound from 39th to 47th streets, but has since reopened.
Police did not immediately release additional details about the shooting.
