The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested two accused and recovered a pistol from them in connection with the shooting in Kandivali West on Saturday in which one person was killed and three others injured. Police said one of the injured is in critical condition.

The arrested accused have been identified as Sonu Paswan (27) and Suraj Gupta (20). Police said the two had rivalry and money-related disputes during a recent fight during the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations last month.
About the arrest, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection-1) Sangramsingh Nishandar said, “The police formed two teams and started the investigation by first approaching the relatives and friends of the accused. The relatives were interrogated to find out the details of the hideouts. During the investigation, the police found that the accused had escaped to the city of Billimora in Gujarat and were hiding in a relative’s house. A police team went to Gujarat to identify the accused and nab the accused. railway station.”
The main accused, Sonu Paswan, had already been searched in another case on September 7 under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 326 (intentionally causing hurt by dangerous weapons).
The police recovered the pistol used in Saturday’s killing and confirmed that a total of five rounds had been fired, and the source of the pistol stockpile is under investigation. “The arrest was made about 24 hours after the incident and the accused have been handed over to the Kandivali police for a thorough investigation into the matter. Also, one person who has been admitted to Shatabdi Hospital is in critical condition and is undergoing treatment,” the DCP added.
At the time of the incident, the victims were standing in a group at Kandivali when two accused arrived on the spot on a two-wheeler. They got into a verbal altercation, after which the accused fired a pistol at the victims, the bullet penetrating the chest killing one on the spot and injuring three others.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC, including the Arms Act.
