MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – An 18-year-old is now facing charges in connection with a fatal Horry County shooting.

J. Devin Lee Johnson. Online records show Ruben was booked into the Long Detention Center and charged Thursday with murder. He was listed as homeless.

A spokeswoman for the Horry County Police Department confirmed to WMBF News that Johnson’s charges stem from a September shooting that killed 21-year-old Tyshawn Smalls on Bay Road near Highway 707.

Officers responded to the car wash at 5609 Bay Road after reports of shots fired. Witnesses told police they saw two sedans sitting in the parking lot before shots were fired.

An acquaintance drove Smalls to a nearby Sonic Drive-In before he was taken to the hospital. He later died of his injuries.

In October, the police identified Johnson as a suspect in the case. He was considered armed and dangerous.

Johnson J. was held without bond until Friday. Reuben remains in the Long Detention Center.
