Sherrod Aldon Hackett, 24, of Montville, fled after committing the crime. Using K9 units and aerial drones, authorities began searching for the suspect in surrounding towns. An adjacent road, Route 5, was partially closed during the investigation.
NBC Connecticut reported that around 9 p.m. Sunday, police officers arrested a man they claim is the prime suspect.
Police dispatchers received multiple reports of a “suspicious man” wandering in a neighborhood near the crime scene. Upon investigation, the reported man matched Hackett’s description and was subsequently apprehended.
The suspect sustained injuries and was taken to hospital following his arrest. Reports claim he is being held on $1.5 million bond and will be arraigned after his release from the hospital. However, the charges against the accused are yet to be finalised.
