2 Suspects in Mid-City Shooting, Robbery of Off-Duty NOPD Officer | Media Pyro

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – New Orleans police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men wanted in connection with the October shooting and robbery of an off-duty officer in mid-city.

The police released the pictures of the accused on Friday, November 11.

The shooter is suspected to be the man with the slight twists in the photo. The second catch has waist-length dreadlocks.

On October 12, 4th District Officer Lewis Blackmon and a friend of N. NOPD says the shooting happened while walking in the 300 block of Rendon Street. Blackmon and the shooter got into an argument before the suspect pulled a gun and pointed it at the officer.

Blackmon then “gestured toward his cross body bag” and “considered retrieving his firearm,” according to the NOPD.

The suspected shooter threatened to take Blackmon’s bag. At that point, NOPD says, Blackmon put his bag on the ground and grabbed the suspect’s gun.

Police said a gun fired during the struggle hit Blackmon in the abdomen.

The suspects fled on foot with the officer’s bag.
