ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police are investigating a fatal shooting near the intersection of Sio Street and Weld Street Tuesday morning.
RPD officials said the homicide happened around 3:45 a.m. and when officers arrived they found a man in his late teens or early 20s suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He died on the spot.
There’s no word yet on what led to the shooting, but another man walked into Rochester General Hospital with a gunshot wound shortly after the shooting. He was brought there in a private car.
Here’s what RPD Capt. Ryan Tauriello had to say about the investigation.
“During the early stages of this investigation, we also received notification that a man who had been shot had arrived at Rochester General Hospital,” Tauriello said. “We are currently trying to determine if that victim is related to this scene here.”
The area is expected to be closed for the next few hours while RPD investigates.
