Petersburg, Va. — A man and a girl were shot Tuesday night near Lakemont Elementary School, Petersburg police said.
Officers were called just before midnight to reports of gunshots being heard and a man being shot in the area of Gibbons Avenue. Soon after, they received a call about another person shot in the 40 block of Slagle Avenue — not far from the first location.
Officers found a girl with a gunshot wound at one scene and a man with a gunshot wound at the other, both with life-threatening injuries, police said. They did not reveal where he was killed.
Both the injured were taken to a local hospital.
Police have not said if the two shootings are related.
