SPD Arrests Suspect in Northeast Spokane Shooting
On 11-2-22, just after 11 a.m., SPD patrol officers responded to a shooting incident near the 2300 block of E Euclid Ave in Northeast Spokane. SPD officers quickly began gathering information from the individuals involved and witnesses.
Officers learned that an adult male victim had been shot by an unknown suspect, but the victim was not injured. Information led officers to believe the suspect was still nearby, and multiple law enforcement resources were used to search the area. A short time later, 19-year-old Linfield Herren was arrested on N Altamont St. Heran was taken into custody at a residence in the 3300 block of Heran.St Graduation and additional charges are possible.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation; It appears there was communication between the suspect and the victim prior to the shooting, but the nature of that interaction is still under investigation.
The incident happened about a block from an elementary school called Bemis Elementary, and because the armed suspect was at best, District 81 security was notified and Bemis was placed on high-caution lockdown. That lockdown has now been lifted. Reports circulated online that it was an “active shooter” situation. This incident did not meet the definition of an active shooter event, nor did it have any apparent connection to a nearby school; The incident did not take place on school grounds and the suspect is not known to have been on the school premises.
