One person is dead and another is injured after a violent fight led to a police shooting in the Bronx Thursday morning.
According to police officials, at 11:20 a.m. on Nov. 3, members of the Queens Warrant Squad pulled over an unmarked police car parked outside a bodega located at 330 Gun Hill Road in Williamsbridge as part of an unrelated, ongoing investigation. The Bronx.
At 11:30 a.m., a 29-year-old man parked a white Lexus at East Gun Hill Road and Hoe Avenue and got into an argument with a 21-year-old man inside the bodega.
The 29-year-old stabbed the 21-year-old several times, grabbed a gun and fled the bodega. The 21-year-old went after the 29-year-old and shot him at point-blank range inside the Lexus.
A sergeant and two detectives from the Queen’s Violent Felony Squad, in plain clothes, confronted the gunman and fired multiple rounds. The shooter was transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacob, where he was pronounced dead. His identity is now being withheld.
The 29-year-old man, who fled the scene, was later found with head injuries in a nearby barber shop. He was admitted to St Barnabas Hospital.
A gun was recovered from the scene and a knife was recovered from inside the car.
At this time, it’s unclear what the motive behind the incident was, but an investigation revealed no one was connected to the bodega. The investigation is ongoing.
