Tucson, Ariz. (ColdNews 13) – An Arizona man is facing attempted murder charges after he shot a Wilcox police officer Thursday evening, November 3rd.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Randy Ray Brown of Winchester was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder of an officer, eluding law enforcement, destruction of property and aggravated assault on an officer.

Brown, 67, was taken into custody Thursday night after a violent crime spree and an hours-long standoff.

The CCSO said it started when a Wilcox police officer tried to pull Brown over for failing to yield. Brown refused to stop, fired several shots at the officer and drove off. The CCSO said the officer had to use his vehicle as a shield to avoid being shot.

Brown then crashed into a nearby home Fort Grant and High Desert roads in the Wilcox areaMakes a big fire.

Brown then fled and was captured after an hours-long standoff.
