Morgantown, W.Va. – Police are currently investigating two shootings in the city of Morgantown over the past two weekends.

The first was last weekend during an altercation in front of the Bank nightclub. Police said multiple shots were fired. One person was injured in the stomach and is expected to recover.

The second happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Fayette and High streets. One person was injured.

Morgantown police are investigating both shootings.

The shooting happened near WVU’s downtown campus. WVU implemented its emergency notification system and issued a community notification Saturday morning. A statement was released on Saturday afternoon.

“These are the latest in a series of similar crimes that have occurred in the same public area since September, and I want our campus community, especially students, to be aware of these and know that our department is working closely with the Morgantown Police to handle the incidents. Things like this,” WVU Police Chief Sherry St. Clair said. “Our relationship with MPD is important and we appreciate their partnership.”

The names of those involved have not been released.
