A Farmington Hills man has been charged in connection with a shooting outside a Farmington residence last week.
Matthew Mikel Jones, 40, was arrested Nov. 5 by Farmington Public Safety detectives and members of the Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team. He was charged with assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felon and possession of a firearm by a felon and is being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $1 million cash or surety bond.
According to the Farmington Department of Public Safety, the victim was critically injured in the Nov. 1 shooting. He called police at 8:16 a.m. that morning to report that a tire on his pickup truck parked at 33230 Slocum Street had been slashed, which he believed was intentional.
Four minutes later, the victim called back and said he had been shot. Officers found him lying near his truck and administered first aid before he was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
Officials earlier said it was not a random shooting and that the shooter fled the scene in a Ford Fusion with heavily tinted windows and no license plate.
Jones’ next court appearance is Nov. 16 for a probable cause conference before 47th District Judge Marla Parker.
