Dibrugarh (Assam): A 25-year-old man was killed in an explosion at his house in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Tuesday, police said.
Dibrugarh Additional Superintendent of Police Bitul Chetia said that the man, identified as Rituraj Mech, was killed in a suspected blast at Da-Hukuta village of Kamalabari in Duliajan police station area.
“He was working in the godown of his house when the explosion took place. His body was badly cut due to the impact of the explosion. We have called forensic experts to investigate the scene and look for evidence,” said the official.
The police have registered a case of unusual death, he added.
The explosion was very strong, and parts of a cylinder were found on a house 50 meters away from the site, according to official sources.
“The deceased was working for a private company engaged in oil exploration in India, which involved the use of explosives such as gelatin sticks. We suspect that some of those who were at home and those who suddenly exploded today,” said one of the sources.
