Fort Worth police are searching for a road rage suspect accused of shooting at another driver on Interstate 30 Tuesday morning.
That driver, who remains unidentified at this time, was shot and ran onto the freeway for help. Officials informed that they are currently in critical condition.
FWPD said they are looking for the driver of a dark-colored sedan that reached out the window and fired shots at the driver at highway speeds. It happened in the eastbound lanes of I-30 between Cooks Lane and Eastchase Parkway.
Investigators say the driver of a dark-colored sedan opened fire on the other driver during a two-car chase around 8:30 a.m. today.
That other driver was shot, stopped on the freeway, and then went to get help. FWPD Officer Buddy Calzada said multiple drivers witnessed the incident.
“When somebody gets shot in their vehicle, gets out of that vehicle on a highway and tries to cross a concrete barrier median, and tries to run for help, they’re in fear of their life,” Calzada said.
At least two drivers going the other way stopped, got out of their vehicles and administered first aid to the injured driver until ambulances arrived.
The FWPD added that both drivers who stopped were medical professionals and their quick action likely saved the injured driver’s life.
