The U.S. Department of Labor has recovered nearly $375,000 in back wages from Keene-based home care provider D+S Elder Services after it found the company denied payment for part-time employees.

USDOL investigators charged the company with violating the Fair Labor Standards Act after finding that workers were not paid wages for more than 40 hours in a workweek. The agency also said D+S did not compensate workers for time spent traveling between work sites or track such time during working hours.

D+S home health workers provide companionship services and assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, light housekeeping and medication reminders.

Boston pays $2.1m to settle Christian flag case

The city of Boston has agreed to pay more than $2.1 million to New Hampshire-based Liberty Counsel, a Christian legal organization that supported a court challenge after the city refused to display a Christian flag. outside City Hall.
