A shooting outside a Princeton Park McDonald’s restaurant Thursday afternoon left one person dead and two others injured.
A 27-year-old man was shot multiple times and later pronounced dead following the shooting, which happened near the intersection of 95th Street and Lafayette at 2:47 p.m. Thursday, according to Chicago Police.
A 49-year-old woman was also shot in the arm, and a 29-year-old man was also shot when individuals in a passing vehicle opened fire, police said.
Local residents were stunned by the shooting, which happened just steps from the 95th Street Red Line stop, the Dan Ryan Expressway and the New Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.
“The 95th Street station is the end of the Red Line, and during rush hour, anyone could walk across the street, even children,” Pastor Donovan Price said.
Shell casings and clothing were observed across the street after the shooting near the busy restaurant. Witnesses described a chaotic scene there.
“One person was shot and returned to the McDonald’s,” a witness said. “A CTA bus operator caught him as he fell. Another ran around the Maxwell hot dog stand.
As police collected evidence at the scene, Price says neighbors were shaken by the shooting.
“It’s a terrible situation at a terrible time,” he said. “These young people (at McDonald’s) suffer more than they should for minimum wage.”
Chicago police have not released a motive and no suspects are in custody. Aria is investigated by two detectives.
