Young Ruchika Rashya Bhuyan always dreamed of writing a book, penning down her thoughts, stories and anecdotes, at the age of 15, she became the proud author of her first book about a young woman. A little girl who had a lot of emotions.
Bhuyan wrote this story during the transition of her life, leaving homeostasis and open acceptance of changes.
“Moving to schools is one thing, but moving to cities requires you to adapt to two new habits and customs: the school and the city,” she said.
“The experience was not easy and anxiety ran through my fingers and toes in the first few days as a freshman and a new resident of this dreamy city, Mumbai, where the story takes place,” added Bhuyan, who hails from Assam. She is currently studying in Mumbai.
“Until It Rains Again” is about 17-year-old Alaina who struggles with unexpected relationships, bad friendships and an ordinary Indian family that is always at odds with her interests and her unusual mind.
It also touches on the theme of LGBTQ+ rights.
For Bhuyan, writing this book is like going through new emotions and new experiences that one creates for oneself, and going on that journey is not a blank canvas.
She feels that writing is not about arranging sentences in correct grammar but about being able to convey life stories and emotions that people experience but don’t pay attention to.
