Tucson, Ariz. (Cold News 13) – Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputies have a suspect in custody after an “unprovoked” shooting in Wheatstone on Monday afternoon, November 14th.

Authorities say they were called to Desert RV, located on Redwing Lane, around 5:15 p.m. in response to reports of a shooting.

The suspect came into the business with two AR-15 rifles and opened fire, prompting the owners to return fire.

The suspect shows two employees before escaping into the desert. One died and another was seriously injured.

Authorities said the suspect, identified as a 37-year-old white man wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans, had not been publicly named as of 10 p.m.

By 9 p.m., hundreds of law enforcement officers from multiple agencies were seen on Redwing Lane.

According to authorities, the man had been to the Desert RV twice earlier that day, but was not acting out of the ordinary. No one recognized him, they said.

An active lockdown was put in place for four miles around the area, and Highway 90 leading to Sierra Vista was closed as deputies searched for the suspect. Those restrictions have since been lifted

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 911.

This is an evolving story. Check back for updates.
