Guwahati: The Assam government has suspended a senior ACS officer after arresting the treasurer of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate of the Assam Police for accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000.

Kisan Kumar Sharma, the Joint Secretary of the Home and Political Affairs Department of the Assam government was caught on Friday night accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000 from a person to renew the license of a security company.

Further investigation at his house led to the recovery of Rs 49.24 lakh in cash.

A notification issued by the Department of Home and Political Affairs on Monday said that the Governor of Assam has placed Sharma under suspension from the date of his arrest till further orders.
