A shooting outside an east Toronto high school Monday afternoon left one person dead and a teenager hospitalized, police said.
Police say they received a call just before 3:30 a.m. about a male shooting outside Woburn Collegiate Institute.
Officers attempted life support and rushed the man to the hospital, but he later died, they say.
Not long after, a second man walked into the hospital with gunshot wounds. He has since been transferred to a trauma hospital, they say.
The victims are believed to be teenagers
Toronto Police Acting Duty Insp. Lori Krannenberg said the two victims are believed to be teenagers, but could not confirm if either victim was a student at the school.
Police are also appealing for witnesses and anyone with cellphone or dashcam video to contact them.
Police say the shooter was last seen fleeing the area westbound. He is described as a man wearing a black jacket and a “Covid mask”.
The Toronto District School Board said Woburn Collegiate Institute and neighboring Woburn Junior Public School were placed on lockdown, but the lockdowns were later lifted.
