LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Members of Save IVF Nebraska have shown that a ballot initiative aimed at keeping abortions safe and legal in our state is working.
They say Nebraskans can’t afford to let the legislature protect a woman’s right to choose, given the mid-century results.
While the Nebraskan Republican Party is celebrating what can be gained from a loyal majority, the Nebraska Democratic Party says it’s not fast enough.
Officials believe that when all the votes are counted, Democrats will be able to hold the 17-seat margin needed to prevent a GOP majority.
In the last legislative session they were able to block a bill that would have banned all abortions in Nebraska from moving forward.
The procedure is currently legal or strictly prohibited in 14 states, according to the Guttmacher Institute and the Center for Reproductive Rights.
They also say that eight other countries have laws that make it easier to stop or actively prevent entry.
Nebraska Parents Advocates say it’s running its largest election campaign in history to keep it out of here.
We say hundreds of Nebraskans have signed up to volunteer to run since Roe v. Wade. They say their goal is clear and there are no restrictions.
