Litchfield, Ky. (WBKO) – A Millwood man is facing charges after an accidental shooting at Caneyville Elementary School.
Matthew Nash, 37, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property and first-degree wanton endangerment after being shot in the leg.
On Wednesday, Grayson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Kaneville Elementary School for a report of an accidental shooting around 7:30 p.m.
Nash was running down a school hallway playing with a child when a gun went off and he fired.
Nash told police he was there to pick up his children from junior pro practice when the shooting happened.
Police said several children were working out with their parents at the gym when the shooting happened.
Although the children were not injured, the gun was fired only a few feet away from the boy in the hallway and the children who were practicing, according to reports.
Nash was flown to the U of L Hospital and released later Thursday morning.
The investigation is ongoing and no other injuries have been reported.
