A man was shot and treated at a San Antonio hospital after a shooting at a Gonzales Walmart early Friday morning.

Lt. Jason Montoya of the Gonzales Police Department said that at 7:11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, GPD officers responded to Walmart, 1114 E. Sarah DeWitt responded to Drive. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male complainant who stated that another person he knew pulled a gun and stated, “I’m going to kill you.”

The complainant advised police that he pulled a weapon and fired at the subject, but did not know if anyone was shot at that time.

GPD received a call about a driver going the wrong way on Sarah DeWitt Drive. Officers were able to locate the described vehicle at Gonzales Healthcare Systems (Gonzales Memorial Hospital) where a male subject was found in the emergency room suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to San Antonio Medical Center for treatment but did not have life-threatening injuries, Montoya said. No other injuries were reported.

The Gonzales Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Texas Rangers jointly conducted the investigation and took several witness statements. As part of the investigation, two guns have been seized – one from the complainant and one from the person who fled the scene and recovered from the hospital.

Surveillance video footage supports the statements of the complainant and witnesses. As of Friday afternoon, no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. The names of those involved in the incident have not yet been released.
