Guwahati, Nov 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) At least 35 cows were rescued by the police in Golaghat district of Assam, officials said on Wednesday.
A police officer said that late on Tuesday night, the heads of cattle were rescued from the Bokakhat area of the district.
The operation that rescued these people took place while the police forces were conducting routine investigations in the area, and a vehicle carrying livestock was seized illegally. The truck driver was arrested.
The murdered person named Bulbul Hussain was interrogated by the police. When questioned, Hussain informed the police that the cattle heads were brought from Kuruwabhi to Samuguri when the police stopped them at Bokakhat.
The police are investigating the case to develop further links.
Recently, 41 cows were caught in Golaghat area. These people were rescued from a container truck that was heading to Samuguri. In a similar incident, 32 cows were seized by the Assam police from four trucks in Sivasagar district last month.
According to government data, the Assam police received around 1,100 cases of cattle rustling last year.
