Guwahati (Assam) [India]November 16 (ANI): Government of Assam has decided to create 72 temporary posts of Senior Grade-I (SG-I) in Assam Civil Services to accommodate 72 ACS officers to strengthen the organizational structure of various departments and increasing administrative efficiency, said the officials. Wednesday.
The decision was taken during the state cabinet meeting at Janata Bhawan chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Announcing the cabinet decisions, Assam Chief Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah said that, there will be 250 SG-I ACS (current strength 178) and the reduction will be made up by promotion of 72 SG-II officers. who are eligible and belong to 1995, 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2004 batches.

“The 72 proposed temporary posts will be promoted to officers. When an officer is transferred out of the regular SG-I rank or an officer is promoted to the selection grade, the SG-I’s temporary officer Relevant will be returned to SG-II,” Jayanta Malla Baruah said.
The Assam Chief Minister also said that the Cabinet has decided to reconstitute the Nagarik Committees at the Thana level to provide a platform for cooperation between the police and the public.
“The committee will consist of a Chairman appointed by the Government, a Member Secretary (Police Station Commander), ex-officio members, members and appointed members (selected in consultation with the Security Minister, 3 members appointed by the DC and 3) Members nominated by SP) The main objective is to create public awareness of important social issues like drug abuse, human trafficking, witch hunting, domestic violence etc.
The Assam cabinet also decided to pay salaries to the elected members of the PRI for smooth functioning of the PRIs and allowances to be paid into the bank accounts of the PRI members every month from April 2022 onwards.
Other decisions of the state cabinet include improving urban governance in Assam, approval of Local Government (Assam) Conduct of Business Rules, 2022, Assam Local Government Union Election Rules, 2022, approval of revised salary structure of Subordinate Judicial Officers as per the recommendation of the Second Judicial Pay Commission, the land measuring 11 Bigha – 1 Katha – 11 Lessa in Modopi Cha Bagicha under Garaimari Mouza of Chariduar Revenue Circle in favor of Hare Movement Krishan, Guwahati to establish a middle class kitchen, a school for underprivileged children, cultural integration etc. (ANI)
